ONE FALL. ONE SCORE. ONE MORE RUN.

Null Fall is a fast, minimalist score-attack game about controlling a descent that keeps getting meaner.

Steer around obstacles, manage your fall speed, and survive long enough to beat your last run.

Beta 0.7 is playable free in your browser right now.

THE CHALLENGE

How far can you make it before the fall wins?

Null Fall is built around short runs, quick restarts, and the terrible clarity that you could have made that gap if you reacted half a second sooner.

Going faster gives you less time to react. Slowing down gives you control, but it does not make the descent safe.

Play a run. Post your score in the comments. Then beat it.

BETA 0.7

Null Fall has reached Beta

The core game and planned 1.0 feature set are now substantially complete. From here, development is focused on balance, compatibility, polish, bug fixes, and getting the final release right rather than piling on new mechanics.

Beta 0.7 includes:

  • Endless score-attack gameplay
  • Increasing difficulty
  • Seven obstacle families
  • Player-controlled fall speed
  • Keyboard support
  • Controller support
  • Touch and multitouch controls
  • Browser/mobile controls
  • Local high-score tracking
  • Top 100 score history
  • Top 10 high-score display
  • Run ranking
  • Accessibility color modes
  • High-contrast mode
  • Configurable visual effects
  • Configurable screen shake
  • Audio and display settings
  • Fast restart and reply
  • No account required

The next major milestone is 0.8 Final Beta, where features are frozen and the focus shifts entirely to making the existing game release-ready.

SHAREWARE VS. FULL VERSION

Null Fall is also an experiment in something the software world used to understand pretty well: Shareware.

No energy systems.
No mandatory account.
No pile of ads between runs.
No game designed around convincing you to buy imaginary currency

The Shareware version is the free version of Null Fall. It exists so you can actually play the game, decide whether you like it, share it, and keep playing it without having to buy it first.

It contains the real core Null Fall experience - not a five-minute tutorial pretending to be a demo.

The Full Edition will be the complete release and the version intended for players who want the finished game and want to support its development.

The philosophy is simple:

Try the game. Keep the shareware version if that's enough for you. Buy the full version if you want the complete release and think the game earned it.

Both versions are built around the same core gameplay.

There will be no advertising added to the Shareware Edition simply to make it annoying enough to purchase the full adition.

MOBILE & TOUCH

It is recommended this game is played in landscape mode.

On touch devices you can control the horizontal movement and fall speed at the same time.

Move your finger and the control follows your movement rather than locking you into the direction where you first touched.

If something feels wrong on your device, leave the model/browser in the comments so I can reproduce it.

High Scores

Your best run isn't the only one that matters.

Null Fall keeps your highest 100 local scores and ranks each completed run.

A run can qualify as:

  • Top 100
  • Top 10
  • #1

The High Scores screen shows your best runs and are stored locally. No account or onlin eleaderboard is required.

THE ROAD TO 1.0

With the core feature set complete, development is moving into its final stages:

0.7 - Beta
Feature complete, platform work, cleanup, licensing, compatibility, and final integration

0.8 - Final Beta
Feature freeze, balance, testing, bug fixing, and polish

0.9 - Release Freeze
The game itself in finished, only release-blocking bugs and changes remain.

0.9.1 - Release Candidate 1
A build that could be capable of becoming 1.0 unchanged

1.0 - Release

No giant feature expansion is planned between now and 1.0. The goal is no longer to make Null Fall bigger. The goal is to finish it.

WHERE NULL FALL CAME FROM

Null Fall started years ago as a tiny Unity project I built with my son when he was eight. We made a simple game about falling, dodging, and trying to last a little longer than the previous run.

Eventually it ended up forgotten on a flash drive.

Years later, I found it again. The old project was rough, but hte core idea still had that one more try feeling, so I rebuilt it as Null Fall and decided to see how far the idea could actually go.

That's what this alpha is for.

THE SHAREWARE EXPERIMENT

Part of Null Fall is about making a game. Part of it is about testing an idea:

Can straightforward, offline-friendly, add-free shareware still work in 2026?

Can you give people enough of a game to genuinely enjoy it, ask for support instead of extracting it, and let the game earn the sale?

I don't know.

That's why I'm trying it.

If the experiment works, great!

If it doesn't, at least nobody had to watch a thirty-second ad to restart after flying directly into an obstacle.

AI DISCLOSURE

Null Fall is independently developed. AI-assistant tools have been used for some current graphics/branding assets. Gameplay design, programming, mechanics, testing, balancing, and overall creative direction are handled by Sector32.

AI-assisted assets may be revised or replaced as development continues.

YOUR TURN

How far did you make it?

Post your score, platform, and control method in the comments. I'm especially curious whether slowing the fall felt useful or merely prolonged the inevitable.

How deep did you make it?

Include your score, platform, and control method. Reports of impossible obstacles are welcome. Claims that the game "cheated" will be investigated with the seriousness normally reserved for sibling disputes involving Mario Kart.
